Church and State Winery outside Victoria has a picture-perfect ambience with dignified elegance. As far as BC winery wedding venues go, this one feels rural with a hint of being a stately affair. Available from April through October for a spring, summer or fall weddings, there are three ceremony sites—two outdoor and one indoor—all boasting stunning views of the vineyard and surrounding wilderness. Say your “I dos” in a simple ceremony space or a large-scale soireé, this venue can hold your guest list of 200 people.

Photo options include a curated natural vibe, with the vineyard presenting many opportunities for intimate shots, the winery for some unique group shots and the sun setting and sparkling romance over the agrarian landscape in the background. Just off the beaten path, the vineyard is nestled in a peaceful area of Vancouver Island, but not too far from the ocean if you book enough time in to have your first-look photos somewhere by the seaside.

Expect to be charmed and wowed. A full service team at Church and State is available to help set up and takedown decor, and bartend so you and your guests will feel well taken care of. Raise your glass and toast with estate-grown varietals and locally-crafted beer, while decadent catering is done in-house. The culinary team creates customized menus which can be served plated, family-style or as an hors d’oeuvres service.

Church and State Wines is near Brentwood Bay on the Saanich Peninsula, about a 25-minute drive from Victoria’s city centre. It’s only a 15-minute drive to the ferry terminal (Swartz Bay, to the mainland) and even closer to the airport (in case anyone is coming in as a very last-minute arrival!). Access is easy, though public transportation options are slow to get out here; please plan safe rides home.
